Leadership and measuring its effectiveness have been a subject of study since long, and a systematic one since the twentieth century. It has garnered much interest in present times for the obvious reason of its correlation with administration, management and profitability of organizations. This has led to a greater amount of research on this subject. In the field of modern management, theorists and practitioners have viewed the framework of leadership from their own distinct perspectives. Thus, there are different frameworks of leadership; consequently, we also have multiple definitions of leadership. As a result, there are numerous review papers, handbooks and textbooks available on leadership frameworks that add to the confusion of a researcher. The motivation of this research comes from the fact that despite a great volume of research on leadership, and universal relevance of leadership, there is very little of our understanding of the phenomenon that is rooted in our indigenous sources. Since the Vedas are believed to be the source of the Indian system of knowledge and Rigveda is considered to be the most important among the four, it was selected for this study.
