Access to basic education has been and still a highly urgent global and national agenda. Accordingly, government and NGO s have made considerable efforts to make the dream of creating a literate society come true in Ethiopia. Therefore, the study focused on the need to devise a strategy that will strengthen the GO-NGO partnership in promoting basic education in the country. The purpose of this study is to assess the existing GO-NGO partnership in implementing ANFBE in Addis Ababa. The research design incorporates mobilization of resources by the GO-NGO partnership, to assess the strength and weakness of the partnership, expertise and experience sharing, favorable legal environment for NGO s to run their programs and to identify the major causes that hinder genuine partnerships between Go and NGO s in implementing ANFBE in the region. The sample of the study consisted of three NGO s and three sub-cities namely Addis Ketema, Arada and Lideta ANFBE departments. Subject groups were selected by random, purposive and availability sampling. Data relevant to the study were collected through questionnaire, interview, focus group discussion and personal observation.

He received his first degree in History from Bahir Dar university in 2002. He went on to pursue a career in Education and received his Masters Degree in Adult and Lifelong Learning from Addis Ababa university in 2009. Now he is working as a senior Adult Education Expert at the Federal Ministry of Education in Ethiopia.
