The main purpose of this book is to provide a unified and systematic continuum approach to fundamental understanding of various Additive Manufacturing (AM) processes. AM is a revolution to the manufacturing sector. In effect, it reproduces the solid model in AM machine directly from 3D CAD software without any specific tooling or die. The common principle that all the AM techniques follow is generating layers and thereby gluing them together. The most significant feature of AM is that it can be used to fabricate multi-material or multiple-component parts with improved mechanical properties,…mehr

The most significant feature of AM is that it can be used to fabricate multi-material or multiple-component parts with improved mechanical properties, functionality, and performance. This book highlights the various additive manufacturing technologies based on different classes of materials and its applications. It introduces important application areas in the field of aerospace, automotive, medical, electronics, manufacturing and tooling industries as well as the unique capabilities of AM techniques over conventional methodologies. A brief literature review included and which provides an insight to understand of the AM processes. However, a detailed study on heat transfer analysis of Deposition and Selective Laser Melting processes presented.
