Searchable symmetric encryption (SSE) allows user to search over their encrypted data on a third party storage provider privately. There are several existing SSE schemes have been proposed to achieve this goal. In this project, we study three of the current existing SSE schemes, which are Practical Techniques for Searches in Encrypted Data proposed by Song et al. in year 2000, Secure Indexes proposed by Goh in year 2004, and Fuzzy Keyword Search over Encrypted Data in Cloud Computing proposed by Jin Li. et al. in year 2010. We then discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each scheme. At the end, scheme of Secure Index proposed by Goh have been choose to be implemented in this project. We develop a prototype of secure file searching system based on the selected scheme using Java language. Finally, we evaluate the performance of the system and discuss the false positive rate.
