Family planning is defined as "a way of thinking and living on the basis of knowledge, attitudes and responsibilities in the decisions of individuals and couples, in order to promote the health and welfare of the family, contributing in the social development of a country." The aim of this book was to investigate the knowledge, attitudes and practices for contraception among women and girls in rural area in prefecture of Elbasan, Albania. A cross-sectional study using a quantitative approach with 300 women and girls from rural areas. Nearly 95% of women had heard and about 75,3% of them have good knowledge about contraception. From 61.7% of women who are using any method, 19.3% are using modern methods of contraception and 42.7% use natural methods. Although the degree of knowledge and contraceptives is satisfactory, again, the rate of use of modern contraceptive methods remains low among women and girls in rural areas of Elbasan prefecture.
