The information provided in this study introduce a picture of ecology of some of halophytes in Damietta coastal area which would be useful for conservation and utilization of halophytes in different purposes. This study also provides some information about halophytes response to salinity stress in the study area which can be useful in the cultivation of halophytic plants regularly in untapped areas along the coastline of the Delta for the purpose of producing an economic crop due to their ability to resist environmental stresses and to face the expected climate change and the inability of most economic plants to grow under the conditions of environmental stress .

O Dr. Serag completou o seu doutoramento em Ecologia do Sistema do Canal das Universidades de Mansoura-Lund 1989. Actualmente a trabalhar como professor de Ecologia na Universidade de Damietta. Publicou mais de 85 artigos de investigação em revistas nacionais e internacionais. Está interessado na diversidade vegetal e na gestão dos recursos naturais.
