The Republic of Panama has made several changes in its foreign policy with a view to comprehensive development in the region and globally. In view of this, the positioning achieved by the People's Republic of China in the last decade is the result of a carefully designed strategy that respects the sovereignty of the countries and seeks a consolidation based on cooperation and friendship. Based on this, a review of the general aspects that frame and condition the establishment of China-Panama relations that allow a glimpse of the development and benefits derived from this relationship for both countries, as well as the role of the Republic of Panama either as a model to be replicated by its neighbors in terms of foreign policy decisions, or as an axis of regional development, as well as the implications and concerns of the United States as a result of the importance that the Republic of Panama represents for this power, are exposed throughout this article.
