Traffic Management is considered from two perspectives namely: designing a new system and improving adequate resources for an upgrade of an existing system. This project spans through the concepts of channel utilization to manage Load Traffic, given inputs on subscriber growth and industrial traffic per subscriber figures. Traffic Management is considered from two perspectives namely: designing a new system and improving adequate resources for an upgrade of an existing system. This project spans through the concepts of channel utilization to manage Load Traffic, given inputs on subscriber growth and industrial traffic per subscriber figures. The analytical model that accommodates the retrials and redials together and produces an estimate of the expected number of retrials and redials per call is used. This quantity is then used to refine the measured total load in order to obtain the effective traffic load, based on which network management can be done more accurately. The Erlang-B formulation is the industry standard for capacity planning among the GSM operators. In order to validate the importance of this analytical model, this project juxtapose by calculating the number of channels per cell in Erlang-B with analytical model such as to arrive at a definite conclusion.
