In order to automate the task of materials management, this book proposed a new integrated approach for real-time data collection in construction using automated advanced and data storage technologies for the identification, collection, storage, transmission, and presentation of information using RFID technology. Automated data collection technologies are bound to approach paperless construction and to modernise information collection and sharing, and undoubtedly have a profound impact on effective management of construction activities. The proposed integrated system can facilitate extremely low-cost and infrastructure-free solutions to uniquely identify materials, components, and equipment and to track them in three phases, namely; production sites (off-site), shipping (en-route), and construction job sites (on-site) almost instantaneously.
