Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (1918-2008) was the founder of Transcendental Meditation (TM). He brought the practice to the West in the 1950s, whereupon meditation centers were established worldwide. His life's work was to bring the scattered Vedic knowledge into a holistic system of Vedic science and make it usable for modern man.
