Present study was under taken to isolate and characterize the Rhizobium strain nodulating Chickpea from the plants collected in the different location of India. Under laboratory conditions isolates were studied and evaluated for traits conferring plant growth and development. The isolated strains were screened for their ability to salt tolerance under variable salt concentration, temperature tolerance at various temperature, Phosphate solubilisation activities and intrinsic resistance for different antibiotics. Temperature is an another important abiotic factor, which directly affects the growth, enzyme activity, metabolic activity, root hair infection, esteroid differentiation, nodule formation and structure, the functioning of the legume root nodule and nitrogen fixation in Chickpea Rhizobium isolates.
