In the first chapter, the author talks to us about the concept of communication which he explains as a process of circulation of "thought" in three dimensions, the simplest manifestation of which is that of communication from oneself to oneself by a sort of splitting of the human personality within itself. The second aspect of communication is that which leads to behavior change in a target individual or individuals which is behavior change communication (BCC), formerly called Information Education and Change (IEC). The third aspect is advocacy and finally social mobilization. The author also clarifies the reason for communication by stating that it is done for the need for mutual understanding, acceptance, action and feedback.
