The water utilization in agriculture for irrigation has a major share (70%). The water resource planning, development, and management require quantification of different components of water resources systems like runoff, groundwater resource and evapotranspiration from crop field, forest, grassland/pasture and evaporation from the wasteland, bare field, and free water bodies. Each component should be quantified and water balance should be made on a watershed scale. The assessment of climate change impact on water resources will help to prepare a future plan for water resources development and management for the basin. It will also be helpful for agricultural as well other resources planning. The required shift in cropping patterns can also be judged. The quantity predictions can be achieved to aid managerial and policy action directed towards natural resources management.
