Since its appearance in 2004, Web 2.0 has revolutionized the nature of the relationship between users and information. This shift is due to its social, participatory and collaborative philosophy. Despite its fast evolution, web 2.0 suffers from various limitations that hinder its development such as information obesity, heterogeneous participation, lack of semantics and the low quality of generated user contents. In this book we discuss the origins and the concepts of web 2.0. We also present the different applications that emerged with this web. The book presents a framework for content assessment and validation based on the collaboration of users in order to evaluate the content quality.
