After phase- out of the Multi-Fibre Arrangement (MFA) from 2005 working conditions, worker's rights, social and environmental issues related to textile and apparel industry are arisen as a big challenge for surviving of the industry. Continuous pressure from international buyers, local and international interest groups, NGOs, and government about compliance with code of conduct are influencing to adaptation of CSR practice. But the ground level situation is deplorable workers continuing their work in an ordeal condition and living under poor level. Therefore, the worker's grievance is increasing day by day to establish their rights and justifiable compensation. This book represents a brief outlook of root level situation especially working conditions and human rights situation associated with this industry, and the positive and negative impact of CSR on the industry. It addresses the socio-economic conditions of Bangladesh and the contribution of apparel industry in national economy, employment, and especially women employment and empowerment.
