Shannon Carriger had her first publication at age eight when the sternly worded letter she wrote about teenagers stealing pumpkins off of her family's front porch was published in her hometown newspaper. She earned her B.A. in English from Bethany College and her M.A. in English from Kansas State University. She currently teaches high school English, and her classroom motto is "progress not perfection"-a lesson she tries to teach herself every day.
