The objective of current research work was to develop sustained release formulation for antihypertensive drugs. In the present investigation polymers like Ethyl cellulose, HPMC K15 and HPMC K100 were used as release reatdant materials for the formulation of bilayer sustained release tablets. Propranolol HCl were selected as the model drugs. Propranolol is beta blocker that is, it blocks the action of epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (noradrenaline) at both beta1- and beta2-adrenergic receptors, which in turn results in reduced blood pressure and is used in treatment of hypertension.…mehr
