A torrential flood can sink and wash away homes as well as damage various other properties such as electrical goods, vehicles and the like. This is a loss for residents. The worst effect of floods is on one s health. Floods often result in a loss of life especially in low-lying areas and along river banks. Floods damage public property such as roads, buildings, and telephone and electrical infrastructures. The situation becomes worse near a dam or the barrage where the river water is stored for the multipurpose use. During the monsoon time the water level of the dam increases and when it overflows the dam it causes flood thus destroys many lives and also properties. Although there is a provision for the alert but the alert is made by observing the water level at the dam manually and then sending the alarm to the people. Under this circumstance, if we make some autonomous system which will measure the water level and also transmit the data to specific location, we can save a lot of lives as well as properties. So the aim of my project is PIC 16F877A based embedded water level sensor for an automatic flood alarming system.
