The conservation of the Nemrut Mount Monument and its Surroundings has been issued to a Conservation Program rather than a project because of its specific site problems, in 2006 after a four-month preliminary study, METU developed the CNCDP (Commagene Nemrut Conservation and Development Programme). Development of Conservation Methods for Sandstones of Nemrut is about developing methods for the sandstones of Nemrut Mount Monuments to keep them at their place i.e., on top of Nemrut Mount at 2026 m altitude and it was a part of CNCDP under the subproject titled as "The Nemrut Mount Tumulus and Monuments project encompassing studies on materials, on structural conditions, geological surveys, and development of conservation proposals".
