Restoration of degraded images is an important and effective tool for image processing application areas. Image restoration techniques model the degradation phenomena and then perform inverse process to restore images. In real world, one has to restore the true image by estimating noise in the absence of a priori information about the degradation process. The objective of this book is to present image restoration techniques using fuzzy intelligence. To achieve this objective, this book focuses on the restoration of images corrupted with impulse noise by making tradeoffs between two contradictive objectives namely smoothness and edge preservation. This book presents variety of fuzzy modeling techniques for image restoration along with their quantitative analysis.
