This study investigates the role and the importance of the schematic structure, the meta-functions of language and cohesion and coherence in understanding the news bulletins of the three television stations in Adamawa state. This study investigates the role and the importance of the schematic structure, the meta-functions of language and cohesion and coherence in understanding the news bulletins of the three television stations in Adamawa state. The television stations are Nigerian Television Authority, (NTA) Yola, Adamawa Television Corporation (ATV), Yola and Gotel Television, Yola. The corpus for the study consists of 9 news bulletins, 3 from each television station randomly selected for the purpose the study. The study covers a period of three months from January to March, 2015. At the schematic structure as proposed by Thorne (2008) has the four features of the schema that were employed and they include; the summary, the main event, the background and the consequences. It was discovered that all the television stations adopted the features except for NTA Yola were the main event is missing. In the same vein, the meta-functions of language which has the ideational meta-function of language, the interpersonal meta-function of language and textuality as its components were used as a tool for the analysis of the texts 'D' 'E' and 'F' based on Wilcock (1991).
