This book will helpful to academic, students and researchers to understand presence and magnitude of genetic variability and correlation which is the pre-requisite of any breeding programme. Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) belongs to the legume family, is recognized as golden or miracle bean due to its high nutritive value and various uses viz., for feed, oil and soy food products. It is rich in oil (18-22%), protein (38-42%), lycine and vitamins A, B and D. The Parameters like genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV), phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV), heritability and genetic advance are useful biometrical tools for determination of genetic variability. The success of selection is mainly depends on the amount of genetic variability present in the material. Greater the amount of genetic variability present in the population, greater would be the scope for improvement. The correlation analysis elucidates the intrinsic nature of observed association between yield and its attributes. Keeping these points in view, the present study was planned to derive information which is helpful in soybean improvement programme.
