Brian Charles Hailes is the award-winning writer/illustrator of four graphic novels entitled Avila, Blink, Dragon's Gait, and Devil's Triangle, the children's picture books Tryp, Skeleton Play, and Don't Go Near the Crocodile Ponds. Other titles he has illustrated include Heroic: Tales of the Extraordinary, Passion & Spirit: The Dance Quote Book, Continuum (Arcana Studios), as well as McKenna, McKenna, Ready to Fly, and Grace & Sylvie: A Recipe for Family (American Girl). In addition to his several publishing credits, Hailes has also illustrated an extensive collection of fantasy, science fiction, comics, and children's book covers as well as interior magazine illustrations.Hailes has received numerous awards for his art from across the country, including Winner of the L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future contest out of Hollywood. His artwork has also been featured in the 2017-2023 editions of Infected By Art.Hailes studied illustration, graphic design, and creative writing at Utah State University where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree, as well as the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He has been a regular panelist and presenter at Salt Lake Comic Con, FanX, and LTUE, where he was the Artist Guest of Honor in 2022, as well as Artist GOH at Conduit 2013. He has also appeared as a special guest at San Diego Comic Con, and is currently an official judge for the Illustrators of the Future contest.Hailes currently lives in Salt Lake City with his wife and four boys, where he continues to write, paint and draw regularly.
