This report is an attempt towards quantifying the effects of aggregate shape factors and their influence on bituminous mixes. Two major parameters have been considered namely aggregate gradation and their aggregate combined index to justify the relaxation of existing upper limits of combined index. This relaxation will ensure utilization of otherwise inferior aggregates having higher combined index and ensure aggregate sustainability. An approach has been suggested to consider utilizing aggregate with higher combined index based on optimizing the aggregate gradation.
