The present study investigates the dehydration of 2-Methylpropan-2-ol with Glycerol + MgCl2 being proposed as a combined entrainer. The experimental vapour liquid equilibrium measurements for 2-Methylpropan-2-ol + water + entrainer systems were investigated for determining the process feasibility. These data were modeled using the symmetric eNRTL thermodynamic model. A Laboratory scale continuous Saline Entrainer Extractive Distillation operation was performed to obtain dehydrated 2-Methylpropan-2-ol. The author is currently working as principal scientist in the process development and design group of chemical engineering division at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology [IICT]. The author along with the co-authors have carried out considerable work in the area of enhanced distillation techniques with advanced thermodynamic models.
