A lot of research has been done on the methods that are used to disseminate agricultural information to farmers. However, very little has been done on the various methods that are currently being used to disseminate and share information and identify the most effective one. The main purpose of the study was to look into the various methods that are being used to disseminate information on agriculture to small holder farmers in Kenya in general and specifically, Kandara district in Muranga and identify the most efficient and effective one. Face to face communication via extension officers, input dealers and other famers is the most preferred method. Vernacular radio programmes on agriculture are also a source of agricultural information. Illiteracy, cost and lack of infrastructure such as electricity constrain the farmers from using newspapers, internet and television. This study recommends that radio and extension officers should be enhanced and integrated with ICTs to effectively provide timely and relevant information to farmers.
