This book aimed at giving information on the surface and subsurface geology of Ipole in Sikonge District of Tabora region, northwestern part of Tanzania. The main objective of these information was to trace if Diamondiferous Kimberlite is existing in Ipole areas. Different exploration techniques were used including heavy mineral sampling in stream sediments, loam and auger sampling, airborne magnetic survey, geographic information system and percussion drilling. The study of drill logs and magnetic susceptibility of the rocks in the vicinity did not show any indicator minerals for the presence…mehr

The study of drill logs and magnetic susceptibility of the rocks in the vicinity did not show any indicator minerals for the presence of Kimberlite such as picroilmenite (Mg-rich),pyrope garnet, chromediopside and diamond which when found together shows proximity to the source.Ipole found to be sited within areas of drainage and transported soil covers which is probably prominent zones for preferential weathering for possible Kimberlite setup. This study did not find any Kimberlite but Ipole is still a prospective area for Kimberlite exploration only for a reason that minimal exploration works have been done in areas with thick overburden.
