Tunru-Gbere is a toll city of the confederal kingdom of Borgu of which Niki is the political capital. This tollgate was located on the caravan route Kparaku -Djugu Wangara -Salaga. Thanks to its fortification, the Tunru tollgate functioned until the French conquest of Borgu in 1898. This village, known as the City of the Touré of Borgu, is known for its geostrategic role and its contribution to the economic influence of Niki, the residence of Sina Boko, the sovereign of Borgu.
