Produktbeschreibung
This book is providing an overview of the complex subject of water scarcity and possible mitigation strategies. Water scarcity is a global concern that is gaining importance. In order to show, how Swiss cleantech companies can contribute mitigating water scarcity, this book addresses water scarcity, water supply and sanitation, the water sector, including its stakeholders and functions, and the water saving contributions of a specific Swiss water saving technology cluster. Further analysis of the products and services of this technology cluster reveals, that it promotes innovation, information and contributes to awareness building about water scarcity. Despite specific large-scale pitfalls, it is found that, while large-scale solutions are needed globally, approaches with a large-scale bias omit relevant alternative or complementary small-scale water scarcity mitigation potential. Furthermore it is observable, that those small-scale solutions are mostly privately driven. Finally it is found that, on a small-scale level, Swiss cleantech companies can play an essential role reducing water stress, banking on their strategic strengths of Swiss high-end products and Services.
