Offshore pipelines are susceptible to major flow assurance challenges such as hydrate formation. Hydrates are non-stoichiometric crystalline compounds formed at elevated pressure and low temperature in the presence of water and gas. Hydrates are capable of depositing along the line and causing flow restriction. This work gives a detailed insight into hydrate formation and management during petroleum production (from drilling operations to flow of hydrocarbon in vertical and inclined pipes). The book also contains details on the design and fabrication of a laboratory hydrate flow loop. Results and models obtained from experiment conducted in the flow loop are presented in the book.
