The study examines the role of public relations (PR) in fostering peace within tertiary institutions, specifically Benue State University in Makurdi, Nigeria. PR is identified as a critical management function in educational settings, aiming to establish a harmonious environment among students, staff, and other stakeholders. The research outlines various PR strategies, such as crisis management and media relations, to bridge communication gaps that often lead to student unrest and other institutional conflicts. Findings suggest that PR strategies are moderately deployed in the university, but their potential is hindered by inadequate resources, limited staffing, and poor crisis handling. This study highlights the need for well-coordinated PR efforts to enhance institutional peace and recommends further investment in PR personnel and resources.
