The present study discusses the importance of fine sentence in the criminal justice compared to the other penalties such as imprisonment and death penalty -for countries that have not yet abolished this sanction especially enlightened by the functions of criminal sanctions. In this regard, there is adopted a comparative approach whereby a series of criminal legislations of different foreign countries are referred to as far as the legal regime of fines is concerned.
