Along the way he organizes the building of an entire fleet of attack space ships, is adopted in to a Mescalero Apache family and then saves Earth from an invasion of Space Marauders. Instead of being allowed to retire again in peace he is declared the most powerful person on Earth. And, yes, he did write his novel in his spare time.
