This book is concerned with improving the writing skill of students of English as a foreign language, and there are several techniques and ways to achieve the desired goal, including the jigsaw technique. Jigsaw is one of techniques that belongs to cooperative learning by which it was developed by the social psychologist Aronson and his colleagues at the University of California. This book deals with Jigsaw IV, Haliday's model. There are certain steps considered important in the implementation of the jigsaw classroom:1. Students are divided into 5 or 6 persons in a jigsaw group. The group should be diverse in terms of ethnicity, gender, ability and race. 2. One student should become as the group leader. Those persons should initially be the most matter student in the group. 3. The day's lesson is divided into 5-6 segments (on for each member).4.Quiz on material in the expert groups checking for accuracy. 5. Student should be given time to read over their segment at least twice tobecome familiar with it. Students do not memorize it. 6. Temporary experts group should have been formed in which one student from each jigsaw group join other students assigned to the same segment.
