There has been need to develop alpha and beta particle detectors capable of detecting alpha and beta radiations beyond their short range in air over 1km-square area of land. This research has suggested and explored two new and indirect principles towards achieving this.The first method discussed the possibility of tracking the ultraviolet and visible fluorescence light yield from their ionization and excitation effects as alpha and beta contamination signatures. The second method through theoretical calculations explored the possibility of alphas going into nuclear reaction with oxygen and nitrogen isotopes of the air and yielding neutrons which are easily tractable from a far. This work is a suggestive ideology open to further research and contributions which is geared towards providing a solution to short range nature of alpha and beta contamination detectors.
