Monte Carlo-based techniques allow comprehensively describing the uncertainty propagation through any measuring process or any retrieving scheme. In this work, they have been used to evaluate the uncertainty of both modeled and measured UV spectra. These applications have shown that Monte Carlo-based techniques have the potential to become useful tools for exploiting spectral UV measurements and for ensuring their quality. In a context of climate change, quality-ensured UV series are required for an improved understanding of the global UV climate.
