Mark V. Schaverien, MBChB MSc(Hons) MEd MRCS MD PGCert(FLM) FRCS(Plast),  is an Associate Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, a Lymphedema Comprehensive Center of Excellence, and is an expert in complex reconstruction and microsurgery, in particular for breast surgery and lymphedema surgery. He obtained Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from the University of Edinburgh Medical School then undertook his surgical training in the United Kingdom, during which he completed a research fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. During his training he undertook four clinical fellowships, including at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and he received fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He received a Master of Science in Surgical Technology with Honors from Imperial College London, a Master of Education in Surgical Education with Merit fromImperial College London, as well as a degree of Doctor of Medicine for research from the University of Edinburgh, and he was awarded the Hunterian Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He was an Attending Plastic Surgeon in the United Kingdom before joining the faculty in the Department of Plastic Surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is Co-Director of Translational Research and has active research interests in outcomes and translational research, including funded lymphedema research. He has been an invited lecturer at numerous meetings and has over one hundred publications in peer-reviewed journals.   Joseph H. Dayan, MD FACS, is an Associate Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center who specializes in microsurgical reconstruction. His research is focused on lymphedema, and he serves as Co-Director of Lymphatic Surgery and Research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. He is recognized asan international expert in lymphedema, serving as president and co-founder of the American Society for Lymphatic Surgery and as a board member of the Lymphatic Education and Research Network. He uses both microsurgical and other techniques for the treatment of people with lymphedema and he has pioneered techniques to safely perform lymph node transplantation. Dr. Dayan also uses novel imaging studies to develop tailored treatment plans for each patient.
