Les livres aident les enfants à développer leurs compétences linguistiques, à stimuler leurs imaginations, à développer leur empathie et leurs conscience émotionnelle et à leurs faire découvrir le monde. De toute évidence, l'un des objectifs de Jessie en tant qu'enseignante était de partager les livres les plus charmants, captivants et cultivés avec ses élèves. Elle savait que si les enfants aimaient ce qu'ils lisaient, ils apprendraient à aimer lire.
