Prevention includes all measures taken to prevent the appearance, aggravation or extension of a danger, risk, accident, disease or, more generally, any harmful situation (health, social, environmental, economic, etc.) such as an epidemic, conflict, disaster or crisis. Acting with an attitude of prevention therefore consists of:implementing measures to reduce, sometimes to the point of eliminating, the conditions and therefore the probability of occurrence of an uncertain and random event;increasing economic or community resilience by anticipating measures that will enable the consequences of a "disaster" to be combated more effectively;providing a service, often financial, before an accidental event occurs to an individual, an association or a company, in exchange for the collection of a contribution or premium. By extension, prevention is the economic sector of insurance that includes the design, production and marketing of this type of service. It is also known as damage prevention. There are many types of prevention: accident prevention.
