Once In A Lifetime Leaf is a story that has so many tangents, so many ways to turn it and think about it. For small children, reading out loud and showing the illustrations will bring the story to life. I can imagine this story being read with children at carpet time in school, or in a library, or snuggled up in bed. It is purely and simply an adventure story that will carry young children from a forest, across meadows, into cities, across oceans and home to a forest. 'Once In A Lifetime Leaf' is a colourful, whimsical, unforgettable experience. For adults and mature children, it is the story of a life well-lived and/or encouragement to seek out adventures throughout your life. There is nothing sad about this story -- it is a celebration of adventure, nature, learning, and decision-making. Marietta Camps wrote this story six months after losing her husband of almost sixty years. This story is an ode to a life well-lived, a person cherished and a great love of nature.
