P.S. Your Cat Is Dead

"P.S. Your Cat is Dead" tells the story of Jimmy's helluva New Years Eve. Jimmy is an actor in New York, who only gets small parts and now is stuck in some kind of midlife crisis. The reader follows him through some miserable events which add up until they reach their climax at New Years Eve and we get a look at the darkest corners of his thoughts when he walks at the edge of craziness. What first sounds like a funny book, turns out to be relatively boring in the first part, then pacing up and getting a bit scary in the middle and in the end surprisingly nice. I also liked the message of the whole story, which basically is: Sometimes you just have to overcome you fears and let it go. Nevertheless the book didn't really catch me. Even though the events are really thrilling, sometimes I just stopped reading to do something more interesting. Also the first half is quite boring. The second half makes up for the first half, so it's 3 stars...
