Wireless communications have been developed widely and rapidly in the modern world in last few decades. According to the demand of advance communication field, there should be high data rate with power efficiency and lower bit error rate. This demand of high data rate can be fulfilled by the single carrier modulation by compromising power efficiency and bit error rate. In multi carrier modulation scheme, it is possible to get high data without degrading the bit error rate (BER) performance. To achieve better perform-ance using multi carrier modulation, subcarriers must be orthogonal to each other thus, the technique which uses this scheme is known as the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multi-plexing (OFDM) technique. Disadvantage of the OFDM technique is its high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). In present work, reduction of the PAPR in OFDM is carried out. This report presents Clipping and the Selective Level Mapping techniques (SLM) are implemented to reduce the PAPR. These techniques are tested for bit error rate perform-ance and the computational complexity using modulation techniques such as BPSK, QPSK and QAM.
