Adrian S¿ftoiu is a Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Elias Emergency University Hospital, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila Bucharest, Romania. He is a Visiting Professor at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA and a Clinical Visiting Professor at Copenhagen University Hospital Herlev, Denmark. He obtained his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Craiova, Romania. He trained at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Craiova, Romania (Internal medicine and Gastroenterology) and completed his training in Gastroenterology at the Department of Medicine V, University Hospital Aarhus, Denmark, at the Gentofte University Hospital Copenhagen, Denmark, and at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Mainz, Germany. He was a member of the Research Committee of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy from 2011-2020 (ESGE). He is Past President of the European Federation of Societies of Ultrasonography in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB), and President of the Romanian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SRED). He serves as the President of the Publication Committee of the World Federation Societies of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB).
