It has properties equivalent to those of water and has been shown to have a response independent of beam quality in a broad energy range which makes it a suitable candidate for dosimetry in both standard and non standard beams. It is desirable to use the latest EBT-2 GAFCHROMIC film model in the dosimetry of high dose rate (HDR) Ir-192 sources in water which would provide direct absorbed dose comparison to the current reference dosimetry protocol for brachytherapy (TG-43 and its update). Also, it would be advantageous to perform these dosimetry measurements in a more convenient Solid Water medium which is less experimentally cumbersome and link the absorbed dose to Solid Water to the absorbed dose to water using a simple correction factor.
