I was told that none of my documents were going to be allowed in court, and no witnesses were going to be summons. I was told by this lady on the phone that I had to plea guilty, or I would receive 10 years with not probation. And I needed to let her know now, what I wanted to do. My answer to her was, "I would like to speak with Gene Dukes, the public defender." On Friday this same lady called me back, wanting to know what I had decided, again I told her I needed to speak with Mr. Dukes. Mr. Dukes call never came. But I was not surprise, because for 3 years I had been calling him and never once did he pick up the phone to call me.
