The Internet of Things (IoT) has become an enabler of smart technologies being a backbone for Internet convergence as devices interact over Internet Protocol based networks. The need for seamless interconnection while maintaining user confidentiality and data integrity cannot be overemphasized as IoT invariably inherits the security threats posed by the Internet. This research work is to design a real time secured and automated building with safety features and interfacing same with the internet using computer/mobile devices for maximum control and efficiency which can be applied in various areas of human endeavors. The purpose of this research work is to bridge the gap that exists between in our world known for her rich natural resources. Careful analysis of the problem was performed leading to the design of a framework for the benchmarking process. A suitable benchmark method was developed and an automated tool was designed to implement an effective design of home automation system. This was analyzed using finite state machine model therafter simulated in Matlab/Simulink. Cooja simulation operating in the ContikiMac OS was presented with detail analysis.
