Indeed, without unemployment benefits, without insurance, and sometimes even without family or institutional support, all the conditions are present for the death of these enterprises. However, while some disappear, others bounce back and fare better following crises. Hence the research question, "What factors determine the resilience of the informal sector to large-scale crises?" This is the quintessence of our research which, through a dual methodology (qualitative and quantitative) seeks to explore, to pierce the "mystery" on the resilience factors of very small businesses following large-scale crises.
