The book describes demand forecasting for retail management using soft computing techniques viz. fuzzy logic, neural network. The forecasting of the quantitative value of dependent variable under the influence of independent variables is explained. One of the most important decisions a retailer can make with information obtained by soft computing based predictive model. The thesis suggests a data mining model which has been used for forecasting of demand. The proposed soft computing based forecasting model results in the reduction of inventory level and increase in customer service level resulting improved performance of retail sale. The proposed model for demand forecasting of various items improve the inventory performance and profitability of operations.
