This book narrates about different aspects of phytolith. It is a silica deposited plant cell material that persists in soils. There are different types of them discovered based on how it gets deposited and oriented in plants. Silica is the dominant constituent in plants and shows reluctance in decomposition in soils. The research has also established that a considerable portion of carbon impounded by silica in the phytolith has importance against climate change mitigations. In this regard, how the soil properties govern their disintegration in soils and dissolution into the solution helps manage for plant silica nutrition and climate change mitigation. It also gives research studies of its application in paleo botanical studies and paleo ecological studies.
