This book focuses on different problems arising in one dimensional ground water movement in homogeneous porous media. In the problem of Ground water infiltration phenomenon in horizontal direction, the non linear Boussinesq¿s equation for height of water table on the basis of hydraulic theory has been derived and perturb solution is obtained to determine effective height of the water table as a measure of initial storage capacity of a basin. The problem of Ground water recharge in unsaturated porous media in vertical downward direction has been studied with the aim to find moisture content of…mehr

The problem of Ground water recharge in unsaturated porous media in vertical downward direction has been studied with the aim to find moisture content of soil at any depth z for any time t > 0. The non-linear Fokker-Planck equation has been derived to represent phenomenon of ground water recharge and reduced to Abel¿s equation of the second kind by using similarity transformation. The solution has been obtained in terms of transcendental function.
